Egypt Holidays for me were not just any other Holiday or a Tick on my Travel Bucket List, it was an Enquiry in my mind; Enquiry about all the question and Answers we have had in History classes way back in School. The Awe I had when I heard the Length of The Nile, the Longest River, The Highest dam of Aswan, The Surprise in my Thought as to why the Mummies, The Miracle called The Pyramids of Giza, The Sphinx and many ancient temples and to see todays day Egypt . An entire film in front of my Eye.
While in Egypt, I realized that it’s strategic location has made it a Seat of power throughout history, attracting the attention of various empires and civilizations by gone and attracting mankind to view the remains of these glorified Eras.
- Take The presence of Suez Canal and the Asian Boarder shaking hands with them is Historically facilitating Trade, Impacting Global routes and the Cultural exchange.
- The Nile River & it’s fertile valley has witnessed the development of Ancient Egyptian civilization and agriculture.
While Egypt faces political instability, it does shows sign of some recovery, today it tries to thrive and is making the best of these opportunities.
It kept me amazed with it’s Cuisine, especially the tea time or mid day snacking of Koshari reminded me of by Mumbai ki Chat especially Bhel, the Fava Bean resembled our Rajma chawal dish. Across Continents I find a connection through Cuisine, It’s Warmth of people who wanted us to explore their land, the way they kept their monuments , the discipline near the entrances and How they managed the Tourists, The History students, the traders, the Journalists , It’s Zest for Knowing , Knowledge risen from the Foundation of housing one of the finest Libraries of this World has attracted Scholars from World around.
Not to Miss out, my nostalgic moment when I saw The Mummy, The Pyramids, The Sphinx, The Mighty Nile and Cruising , The experience of Hot Air Balloon ride and viewing the Ancient City of Luxor from Such an Height , One Side excavation where Past is being dug and archaeologist studying and processing what era it belonged and how many dynasties lived to view it and On the Other side, Lush green fields, cultivating crops and providing for Today.
Alabastar, is yet another highlight, the Carved artifacts, the Ornamental Stonework is very popular, The fabrics, the Handicrafts & much more, Being a Mumbai person, bargaining comes so natural . But here I was when the Salesperson said he cannot go beyond the offered price and that I should buy so it benefits both as going lower on rates beyond it meant – “Not good for me and my People”. Please respect our Country Products The Genuine strategy touched me and yes , I was happy to buy it as I believe no sale should bring discomfort to any of the parties.
At Gaia Trips it’s just not about any product , it will always be an exchange of an experience that the Place ,People, Cuisine or any Marvel be it natural or man made have to offer , as they do it with Pride in their chest and Honour for their Country.
