HOME   ACTIVITY   PRIVATE TOUR GROUP TOUR BIKE RENTAL GALLERY

“It was a good group to travel with.  I was the only U.S. citizen which made for some humourous discussion -- everyone else was from the U.K., Canada or South Africa.  The  backroad scenery was incredible and you really got a feel for how people live out  in  the country (as opposed to the big cities) in China.”

Thousand Island Lake (Qiandaohu) Cycling

Description:

Qiandaohu (The Thousand Island Lake) is located in Chun'an County, the west of Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. It’s the center of the tour route of "Hangzhou--Qiandaohu--Huangshan”.  This area is one of the first-class national scenic spots and has the largest national forest park.

The lake covers five hundred and seventy square kilometers, including over one thousand islands of different sizes. It is famous for the surrounding green hills
and varied species of animals and plants.

On Saturday the van will take us to Shi Li Green Gallery in Qiandaohu, which is about 1 hour from Hangzhou by bus.  After lunch we will have some lounging time at the arboretum near the hotel.  You will have plenty of opportunities to cool down your muscles in the refreshing 1000 Island Lake during the next 15 km cycling.  You will be able to pick up some fresh fruit along the way and return in the early evening.  Before dinner there will be a chance for a very nice dip in a blue sparkling lake and a cool quiet summer night.

On Sunday, we will take a ferry across the lake to the opposite side and continue our biking. This will make for quite interesting cycling, as we will cycle along the lakeside road passing rice fields and small villages where few tourist visit.

Our tour will finish at the famous Xin'an River Dam which backs up the water in the lake. The van will wait here for us for the trip back to Hangzhou.
